Hibiscus iced mate is a cool, caffeinated drink made from Argentine yerba mate and hibiscus . This traditional Argentinian drink mixed with hibiscus is best sipped in a gourd with a bombilla , but you can of course drink it in any of your containers such as a flask or a cup.
Like yerba mate , hibiscus also has virtues. It helps reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and even prevent kidney stones. Like yerba mate, hibiscus is a source of antioxidants perfect for our recipes this summer.

What you will need:
To prepare your hibiscus iced mate , you will need:
1. Utensils
- A container (glass, calabash , cup, etc.)
- A bombilla (or a traditional straw)
- A pourer (pitcher, jug, thermos, etc.)
- Shaker
- Traditional Yerba Mate
- Pink hibiscus concentrate
- Thyme
- Lemon juice (purchased drink or homemade juice)
- Ice cube or crushed ice
The recipe for frozen hibiscus mate in 4 steps:
- Mix the yerba mate with the thyme (torn, crushed, crumbled) and water in the shaker, then shake everything for 15 seconds: with energy!
- Add the rose hibiscus concentrate, followed by the ice cubes (or crushed ice) to your container.
- Strain the mixture from the shaker, and pour the liquid into your container. It is possible that there are some small pieces of yerba mate left, this is completely normal and we can drink them.
- Garnish the drink with your lemon juice.
You can of course add a little touch of sugar or honey if you want to opt for plain water instead of lemon juice, this will make your iced mate more delicious.
Important clarification: Just like hot mate , iced mate ( hibiscus ) can be infused many times without changing yerba mate !
